The Racquet

Tennis String Notes

On this page, we provide a little more information about the string groups.

Band A Low Cost

Strings in this group would often be described as Synthetic Gut, which is the name for an economical string with average performance. They would not be used by players who break strings frequently.

Band B Medium Price

These strings usually provide extra features. The is often more comfort for players who suffer from tennis elbow, but they often also provide extra power. Strings from racquet companies such as Head, Prnce and Wilson among others would be in this category. They are again not for players who break strings frequently.

Band C High Price

These are usually the most expensive strings of a particular type. They will usually be manufactured by the company, rather than being obtained from another company and then renamed as an “Own Brand” product. You should expect good performance over the life of the string with these products.
