An Introduction to Monofilament Strings

This type of string has been available for several years. They are often described as Polyester strings and offer advanced players extra control and durability.

String Features

Monofilament strings are stiffer and offer more control for players who use extra spin on their shots.

They also provide extra durability which makes them popular with players who break strings frequently

Note - please observe the notes about Playing Problems

Tension Loss

All strings lose tension when they are used. Some Monofilament strings lose too much and are unsuitable. This means you have to be careful when selecting a string.

Note - it is difficult for players to measure tension loss.

Potential Problems

Many players who use this type of string develop wrist, elbow or shoulder pain. This is often the result of using the wrong tension.
